How To Choose A Cable Tray For A Workshop

A workshop cable route is not only a place to put wires. It also affects heat release, later checking, and the safety of nearby equipment. Before choosing a cable tray, the first thing to check is the cable type and cable amount. Power cable is usually heavier and needs stronger support. Control cable and signal cable may need a neater route, and sometimes they should be separated from strong power lines to reduce interference.

The installation height and support span should also be checked, because a long unsupported span may cause the tray to bend after cable is added. The site environment is just as important as the cable load. A dry indoor workshop can use pre-galvanized steel tray for regular wiring. A humid, salty, or chemical area may need stainless steel, FRP, or a stronger coating. If the cable group produces heat, a perforated or ladder type tray can help air move better. If dust, dripping water, or falling objects are common, a cover may be needed.
